Art for Games and for Art's Sake
Another one of my dabbles, some of my unpublished and published art contributions to games...

Baby Boy - 2002
Second thing I drew with intent after picking up a piece of paper and a pencil. First thing I drew was a towel on a towel rack. Hmmm, thinking back then that maybe I had something here?

Camel - 2002
Third thing I probably ever drew, again from a reference photo. I was in the Middle East then, just for context.

Terror - 2002
My earliest attempt at catching expression, using a mirror, paper and pencil.

The Face - 2003
My first contribution for a Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “The Black Dog” by Linden Dunham in the Unbound Book Vol. 1 Oct 2003 (RPGGeek link below)

Canopic Jar - 2003
Another contribution for the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Baggage Check” by Bret Kramer in the Unbound Book Vol. 1 Oct 2003 (RPGGeek link below)

Fishman - 2003
My early morning profile before ablutions. Joking aside, a study in contrast using an montage of various fish heads. Had this Deep One theme going...

Moon over Danvers - 2003
One of four artistic contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Dark Dreams of Innsmouth” by Brian Courtemanche in the Unbound Book Vol. 2 Aug 2004 (RPGGeek link below). Drawn in negative and then converted in PhotoShop to positive, with some additional processing for the St. Elmo's Fire effect and the clouds.

Fishface - 2004
One of four artistic contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Dark Dreams of Innsmouth” by Brian Courtemanche in the Unbound Book Vol. 2 Aug 2004 (RPGGeek link below) - pareidolia - the things you see when looking at reflections off a brass tack on old upholstery.

Crown of Dagon - 2004
One of four artistic contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Dark Dreams of Innsmouth” by Brian Courtemanche in the Unbound Book Vol. 2 Aug 2004 (RPGGeek link below) - I modeled the basic shape of the crown with clay then added detail with pencil and aquatic creature references.

Call to the Deep - 2004
Be careful what you call up! One of four artistic contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Dark Dreams of Innsmouth” by Brian Courtemanche in the Unbound Book Vol. 2 Aug 2004 (RPGGeek link below) - I took reference shots with crown in hand at night by my backyard bonfire when I lived in the country.

Feeding Time - 2004
One of five contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Flesh for Eihort” by Linden Dunham - 2004 - Link below

Crime Scene - 2004
One of five contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Flesh for Eihort” by Linden Dunham - 2004 - Link below

Tub - 2004
One of five contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Flesh for Eihort” by Linden Dunham - 2004 - Modeled with butcher knives, a crowbar and beet juice in a tub. Link below

Evidence - 2004
One of five contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Flesh for Eihort” by Linden Dunham - 2004 - Modeled all these everyday things as a reference photo. Link below

Going Down? - 2004
One of five contributions to the Call of Cthuhlu Adventure “Flesh for Eihort” by Linden Dunham - 2004 - Modeled this hanging from the rafters in my garage. Roughed in the details later. Link below

Dark Fantasy Border -2005
A dark fantasy page border piece, a distant temple tower as seen from a jungle precipice. It was done referencing vines as well as animal skulls and details off of ancient cultural artifacts.

Bad Man - 2005
One of three works I drew for a Dreamlands - Call of Cthulhu adventure for Richard Watts. No idea if they were ever used? Used procedural Facegen software to model the villain.

Ghost Girls - 2005
One of three works I drew for a Dreamlands - Call of Cthulhu adventure for Richard Watts. No idea if they were ever used? Took a picture of my daughters, son and a neighbourhood friend of theirs while standing on chair at our front door to capture the right angle to model the ghost girls moaning.

Revenge - 2005
One of three works I drew for a Dreamlands - Call of Cthulhu adventure for Richard Watts. No idea if they were ever used? The villain gets it in the end. Took a picture in our backyard kiddie pool with daughters and son pulling me down into the water. Bought the cheap, disposable suit jacket and bow tie at a thrift store.

First Real Life - 2005
My first acrylic on canvas from my art program.

Pointilism - 2005
Not my favourite, but it met the course criteria.

My take on Chardin - 2005
My course final - not a perfect forgery of a Chardin but satisfactory. When I threw all these out my brother grabbed them up, framed them and gifted them that Christmas to our parents.

Gothic House - 2006
A house with which I was enamoured in Morrisburg, Ontario - near where I lived back in the 2000s. One of many gorgeous houses (all of which HPL would have approved) amid the many towns that dot the St. Lawrence Seaway Valley.

All in the Eyes - 2012
I have an old photographer friend - Sarah - I was inspired by her business cards - self-photo of her eyes. It also went well with a painting that she had of lips. Acrylic on canvas.

Yoko - 2012
Continuing the theme - Yoko - Eyes as the window to the soul. This time with warm tints. Acrylic on canvas.
